Do my clips have to be the same size or format?+
No. Every input is scaled to a common frame, padded to preserve its proportions, and re-encoded to one codec. That is the slower of the two ways to join video, and the only one that works on a mixed set.
Why did joining fail?+
The commonest cause is a clip with no audio track. Joining requires every input to have both video and audio, and one silent clip breaks the whole graph. Give it an audio track first, or trim that clip out.
Why is one of my clips letterboxed?+
Because its proportions differ from the output frame. Padding preserves the picture; stretching it to fit would distort faces. If every clip shares a ratio, pick an output height that matches it and there will be no bars.
How many clips can I join?+
Up to eight at a time. Every input is decoded simultaneously, so the memory cost grows with the count — this is a browser tab, not a workstation.
