Turn a sideways or upside-down video the right way up, or mirror it. The rotation is baked into the pixels and the container’s orientation flag is cleared at the same time — that second step is the one most tools miss. Phone video stores its orientation as metadata rather than in the picture, so rotating without clearing the flag leaves the player applying it again on top, and the clip comes out rotated twice.

Why does my phone video look fine on the phone and sideways everywhere else?+
Because the camera recorded it in one orientation and wrote a rotation flag into the file rather than rotating the actual pixels. Software that reads the flag shows it correctly; software that ignores it shows the raw frames sideways. This tool rotates the pixels and clears the flag, so every player agrees.
I rotated it and now it is rotated the wrong way twice.+
That is the flag being applied on top of a rotation already baked in — the failure this tool exists to avoid. It clears the orientation metadata as part of the same pass, so the result is rotated exactly once.
What is the difference between rotating and flipping?+
Rotating turns the frame; flipping mirrors it. Use flip to correct footage from a front-facing camera or a mirror rig, where text reads backwards. Rotating will not fix that.
Does rotating lose quality?+
One generation, because the video has to be re-encoded. It is not visible in practice at the quality used here.
