Bank Statement to CSV
Runs in your browser — your files are never uploaded.
Banks hand out statements as PDFs and nothing else, which leaves anyone doing their own bookkeeping retyping a year of transactions. This converts one into a CSV your spreadsheet or accounting software will actually read: date, description, amount, balance, each in its own column. Statements vary wildly between banks, so rather than pretending one layout fits all, it shows you where it thinks the columns are and lets you drag the guides until they match yours. It runs entirely in your browser — a statement lists every place you shop and how much money you have, and uploading that to a free website to save five minutes is a poor trade.
How to use Bank Statement to CSV
- 1
Drop in the statement PDF. It is read on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.
- 2
Drag the guides so date, description and amount each land in their own column. Use "Detect from this page" if the first page is a cover letter.
- 3
Download the .csv, ready to import into Excel, Google Sheets, QuickBooks or your ledger of choice.

Frequently asked questions
Will it work with my bank?+
It does not need to know your bank. Instead of matching a list of templates, it reads where the text physically sits and lets you place the column boundaries yourself — so an unusual layout costs you a drag or two rather than being unsupported. The one thing it cannot do is read a statement that was scanned rather than downloaded, because that file contains a picture of the text rather than the text.
The statement runs over five pages. Do I set it up five times?+
No. The guides apply to every page, because a statement uses the same column layout throughout, and all the pages are appended into one continuous table. If some pages are terms and conditions rather than transactions, list only the pages you want in the options.
Do the amounts import as numbers?+
Yes. Currency symbols and thousands separators are stripped, and amounts printed in parentheses — the accounting convention for money going out — come through as negative numbers. Dates and reference numbers are left exactly as printed so nothing is mangled on the way in.
Two transactions came out on the same row.+
Lower the row grouping slider in the options. It controls how close together two printed lines have to be before they are treated as one row, and a statement with tight line spacing occasionally needs it turned down. Raise it instead if a single transaction is being split across two rows.
Is my statement uploaded?+
No, and that is the reason to use this one. Every online statement converter that asks you to upload has, at that moment, a complete record of your income, your balance and everywhere you spent money. Here the file is opened and converted by your own browser and never leaves the machine.
Can I get it as Excel instead?+
Yes — the same screen offers .xlsx beside .csv, so pick whichever your software prefers. CSV imports into more accounting packages; XLSX keeps the amounts already formatted as numbers in a spreadsheet.
