Frequently asked questions
Does this work on scanned PDFs?+
No — this extracts text that’s already embedded in the PDF. A scanned document with no embedded text layer (a photo of a page saved as PDF) needs OCR, which this tool doesn’t perform.
Does it preserve formatting?+
No. Output is plain text with pages separated by blank lines — layout, fonts, and columns aren’t preserved.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?+
No. Text extraction runs entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to a server, which matters for contracts and other sensitive documents.
