Frequently asked questions

Can I use these colours as an exact brand palette?+

They’re sampled from the photo, so they reflect its lighting and compression rather than any official brand values. Treat them as a starting point — a strong basis for a palette you then refine by hand.

How are the dominant colors chosen?+

The image is downsampled and every pixel is bucketed into a coarse color histogram; the most frequent buckets become the palette, each shown as the average color within that bucket.

How many colors does it extract?+

Six by default — a good balance between coverage and a palette you can actually use.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?+

No. Extraction runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API — nothing is sent to a server.
