Frequently asked questions

Can I pick colours from a screenshot?+

Yes — any PNG, JPG, WebP or similar raster image works, including screenshots. Load it, then click the exact pixel whose colour you want to read.

Why does the sampled colour look slightly different from the original?+

The tool reports the exact pixel value, but nearby pixels in a photo or gradient can vary, and anti-aliased edges blend colours together. Zoom in and click the centre of a solid area for the most representative sample.

How precise is the sampled color?+

It reads the exact pixel value at the point you click, mapped from the displayed image back to the image’s original resolution — not an average or approximation.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?+

No. Sampling runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API — nothing is sent to a server.
