Remove PDF Metadata

Runs in your browser — your files are never uploaded.

A PDF quietly carries more than it shows: the author's name, usually taken from their computer account, the software that produced it, and the times it was created and last edited. None of it appears on the page and all of it travels with the file. This strips those fields, including the separate XMP block that most tools miss, and it is the one converter here that does not stamp its own name into the result — putting metadata back would defeat the point.

Frequently asked questions

What metadata does a PDF actually carry?+

Title, author, subject, keywords, the creating application, the producing library, and creation and modification timestamps. The author field is usually filled in automatically from the account name on the computer that made it, which is how documents shared anonymously stop being anonymous.

What is XMP metadata, and why does it matter?+

A second, separate block of metadata stored as XML, written by Acrobat, InDesign, Word and most modern producers. It carries its own copy of the author, title and timestamps. Tools that clear only the classic information dictionary leave it untouched, so the file still names its author after a cleanup that appeared to work. This tool removes both.

Does this remove the visible content too?+

No. Text, images and layout are untouched — only the hidden descriptive fields are removed. If you need visible content gone, that is redaction, which is a different job entirely.

Why does this tool not add its own branding?+

Every other PDF tool here writes okconverter.com into the producer and creator fields. Doing that on this one would insert metadata into a file you just asked to have cleaned, so it is deliberately skipped. The output carries no reference to this site.
