Will converting to MP3 lose audio quality?+
Both OGG and MP3 are lossy, so re-encoding discards a little more data — but OkConverter encodes at LAME VBR quality 2 (around 190 kbps), which is transparent for almost all material. Converting an already-compressed OGG can’t restore detail the original file dropped.
What bitrate is the MP3 saved at?+
A variable bitrate averaging roughly 190 kbps (LAME’s -q:a 2 setting), chosen because it’s effectively indistinguishable from the source for music and speech alike while keeping the file reasonably small.
Why convert OGG to MP3?+
MP3 has the broadest device and software support of any audio format, while OGG playback is less universal — particularly on older hardware, some car stereos, and certain mobile apps.
