Frequently asked questions

Does this guarantee my photo will be accepted?+

No, and be wary of any tool that claims otherwise. It gets the dimensions and resolution right, which is the part software can do. Head position, expression, background colour, lighting, shadows and glasses are judged by the issuing office and remain your responsibility.

What DPI should I choose?+

300 DPI is the standard for printed photo documents and the default here. Going higher does not help unless your printer genuinely resolves it; going lower risks a visibly soft print.

Why is my photo cropped rather than shrunk to fit?+

Because the required size has a fixed aspect ratio. Fitting the whole image inside it would leave blank bars, a frequent rejection reason. The photo is centre-cropped to fill the frame instead — so centre your head before uploading.

Does it replace the background?+

No. Background removal is a separate problem, and doing it badly leaves a halo around the hair that an official will notice. Photograph against a plain, evenly lit wall.

Is my photo uploaded?+

No. It is processed entirely on your device and never sent anywhere.
