Why does it say my browser can’t encode WebP?+

Creating WebP files in the browser is currently supported by Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave). Firefox and Safari can display WebP but can’t create it — switch browser for this one tool.

How much smaller will the WebP be?+

Typically 25–70% smaller than the source PNG depending on content — photos and screenshots shrink the most, tiny flat graphics the least.
