AVIF to PNG Converter

Runs in your browser — your files are never uploaded.

AVIF is a modern, highly efficient image format, but not every app or tool can open one yet. OkConverter decodes AVIF using your browser’s own built-in decoder and re-encodes it as a universally supported PNG — entirely on your device.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn’t the conversion work?+

AVIF decoding relies on your browser’s built-in support. Current Chrome, Edge, and Firefox all decode AVIF natively; if it fails, try updating your browser or switching to one of those.

Does converting to PNG lose quality?+

PNG is lossless, so once decoded, no further quality is lost in the re-encode — though AVIF’s own (typically lossy) compression already set the ceiling on the source image’s detail.

Why would I need to convert AVIF at all?+

AVIF offers excellent compression but isn’t yet supported everywhere — some older software, email clients, and image editors still expect PNG or JPG.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?+

No. Decoding and re-encoding both happen locally using your browser’s Canvas API — nothing is uploaded.
