Frequently asked questions
Why doesn’t the conversion work?+
AVIF decoding relies on your browser’s built-in support. Current Chrome, Edge, and Firefox all decode AVIF natively; if it fails, try updating your browser or switching to one of those.
What happens to transparency?+
JPG has no alpha channel, so any transparent areas in the source AVIF are flattened onto a white background before encoding.
Why would I need to convert AVIF to JPG?+
JPG remains the most universally supported photo format — useful when uploading to older platforms, sending to someone whose software doesn’t open AVIF, or editing in tools without AVIF support.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?+
No. Everything happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API.
