Will the file get bigger?+

Usually a little, yes. AVIF is the more efficient format, so moving to WebP costs some size — you are buying compatibility with it. Expect a modest increase rather than a dramatic one.

Is transparency preserved?+

Yes. Both formats support full alpha transparency, so transparent areas survive the conversion unchanged. Convert to JPG instead only if you specifically want a flattened white background.

Why does it say my browser can’t encode WebP?+

Producing WebP from a canvas is Chromium-only — Chrome, Edge, Opera and Brave. Firefox and Safari can show WebP but not create it, so use AVIF to PNG or AVIF to JPG there.

Are my files uploaded?+
