Why can’t my browser open a TIFF in the first place?+
No Chromium or Firefox build ships a TIFF decoder — only Safari does, borrowing the operating system’s. That is why the same .tif previews on a Mac and shows a broken icon on Windows. This tool carries its own decoder, so it works the same everywhere.
Does converting lose any quality?+
No. Both TIFF and PNG are lossless, so this is a straight re-encode — the pixels in your PNG are the pixels in your TIFF. If your TIFF has an alpha channel, it comes across intact.
What about a multi-page TIFF?+
Only the first page is converted. Multi-page TIFFs are common from scanners and fax software; the first page is the one every other viewer shows you by default.
Are my files uploaded?+
